OER Resources and Training Material

To promote the sharing of effective practice and to ensure that the lessons learned help to inform the strategies developed at other UK HE institutions contemplating OER release, the Open Spires team responsible for the successful delivery of OER from Oxford is providing various resources and training material to help those in HE considering Open Educational Resources (OER) release.

We hope more institutions will investigate local solutions for sustainable OER release and release some of their teaching and learning materials under a Creative Commons licence.

OER and an International Audience

This report contains ideas for ways to plan, monitor and improve the exposure and consumption of your Open Education Resources (OER) materials to overseas audiences using Google Analytics as a cornerstone system to achieve that.
The report provides detailed examples of which reports you can use in Google Analytics and also provides ideas and tips for increasing the discoverability of your OER materials. The report describes a simple 5-step methodology you can use to understand and improve the performance of your OER materials. This approach can be applied to more than just your International audience for instance measuring local internal use but for the purposes of this report the examples used involve international visitors.

This report was compiled in January 2013 by the Oxford University Academic IT Services OER Internationalisation project.
