Dr Alan Barr and his collaborators work with an enormous and hugely powerful particle accelerator called the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). He searches for and properties of new particles predicted by symmetries such as extra gauge symmetry, supersymmetry or extra spatial dimensions, using the LHC at the European Particle Physics Laboratory (CERN) near Geneva. He looks at the development of particle detectors.
