Stanley Fischer
Professor Stanley Fischer is the Governor of the Bank of Israel. He joined the Bank of Israel in May 2005. During his career, he has held positions in both the private and public sectors including Vice-Chairman of Citigroup, First Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Head of the Department of Economics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Chief Economist at the World Bank. He is the author of a number of books and has published extensively in professional journals. He is a Fellow of the Econometric Society and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the G-30, and the Trilateral Commission, a Guggenheim Fellow, and a Research Associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research. He has served on Boards of the Institute for International Economics, Women’s World Banking and the International Crisis Group, as well as the International Advisory Board of the New Economic School Moscow. He holds BSc and MSc degrees from the London School of Economics and a PhD from MIT.
